Steps

  1. 1
Try to help the child, if someone close to the child has died. Help them get along with it.

  2. 2
Explain that whatever happens to the dead body, DOES NOT hurt the person that it used to be (the child will not be scared by thinking of someone being burned).
  3. 3
Explain to the kid that a dead body must be "honored" either by cremation or burying it.(DO NOT SAY THAT IT MUST BE DISPOSED!)
  4. 4
Try to make the kid comfortable with the idea of cremation after death. For example, explain that cremation has existed for several centuries(since ancient times),and that it was and is a way to honor the dead
  5. 5
Try to see what you have accomplished by asking the child what he/she thinks about cremation.
  6. 6
stop talking about the process for a few days, if the child hates cremation, Just try a couple of days later. Do not push the kid to accept this idea. It's possible to make it worse.

The easy way!

  1. 1
Try to present cremation as a story, and as the kid grows older, explain more and more about what cremation really is!
  2. 2
Ask if he/she already knows something. If he/she does, learn what, and try to work these ideas into your storyline!
  3. 3
Use the kid's knowledge as a "base" and start building your story. For example, say that cremation is better than burying the body, and something that will make it look good.

Tips

  • About the second way: Always tell the truth to your kids. They'll have to accept it eventually. Always say the truth to the kids and think that they are equal to grown men, even more mature.
  • About the first way,you can make the burying funeral look bad,by saying that the body is still 'big' and hard to have with you, but with cremation, you can carry your loved ones everywhere with you.
