Juyo is a lightsaber combat style that is often paired with or confused for Vaapad. The two are not entirely the same, however. While Vaapad is the creation of Mace Windu and requires extreme training to learn, Juyo is a slightly older style that is challenging, but doable.A few examples of Juyo users are:

  • Darth Maul
  • Vrook Lamar
  • Zez-Kai Ell
  • Rahm Kota
  • Starkiller (Galen Marek)
  • Darth Sidious

Steps

  1. 1
Learn basic Shii-Cho. It gives you a basic understanding of lightsaber combat techniques. Ideally, knowledge of some other styles should be a part of your previous training, but it is not absolutely necessary

  2. 2
Always start in the Juyo opening stance. This stance is with your feet planted firmly about a foot apart, lightsaber held in one hand above your head with the blade pointed sideways. This stance allows you to quickly descend into a strike and press your attack.
  3. 3
Focus on linking your strikes. Juyo sequences are not as graceful as Ataru sequences, but they are still linked.
  4. 4
Increase the speed and variety of your sequences. A good Juyo sequence should be "staccato" and unpredictable.
  5. 5
Develop a persistent, aggressive fighting technique. One should not give in to rage, but keep a mental emphasis on victory.
  6. 6
Learn the three special techniques: Assured Strike, Vornskr's Ferocity and Swift Flank. Assured Strike is a temporary break in one's strike sequences, which is followed by a solid strike or kick to the enemy. Temporarily holding back from your strikes catches the opponent off guard, which gives you a split second of opportunity to land a blow. Vornskr's Ferocity is the technique where you simultaneously speed up your sequences and bring down your blows with more ferocity. Swift Flank is a move where one dodges an enemies blow, then almost simultaneously strikes from the side or behind.
  7. 7
Contemplate ethics and nonviolence often. If you meditate, meditate on maintaining a peaceful mind and heart, to avoid Dark Side rage corrupting your Juyo. The best Juyo practitioners should be aggressive in battle, but peaceful unless fighting is absolutely necessary. It would also be good to learn more about the philosophy of Form Zero.

Tips
Provide Details.
Please be as detailed as possible in your explanation. Don't worry about formatting! We'll take care of it. For example:
Don't say: Eat more fats.
Do say: Add fats with some nutritional value to the foods you already eat. Try olive oil, butter, avocado, and mayonnaise.

Tips

  • Velocities for Juyo (training drills): Twin Suns-This velocity is useful because it improves one's precision. The idea is to force jump into the air at the same time as your practice opponent, make contact with your sabers, cut off a piece of your opponent's clothing and then land. Another useful velocity is what is known as Vornskr Duel. This velocity is performed by one student performing a Juyo sequence while the other defends and counters each move in the sequence. The offense/defense positions are then reversed. This improves one's spontaneity and quick thinking.

Warnings

  • Remember, Juyo can be used by Dark Siders as well, so the practitioner must be ever vigilant against corruption within him or herself. Always remember peace whenever possible, and that the battle mindset is victory and skill, not rage.
