    Draw or write about your home faction. What is their government? What species are they? What's your home planet's climate? e.g. An imperialistic human empire that has outdated weapons compared to other galactic civilizations but a higher population.

    You can't travel the stars without a spaceship! Design this next. Keep in mind details such as the propulsion system (how the ship is powered and moves), weapons systems, colony bays, medical facilities etc. e.g. With my theme of an outdated empire, the ship runs on quartgils, a mineral deposit discovered on Mars. When burned it provides huge energy (and more than a little pollution). The weapons systems are modeled on old cannons, except they shoot plasma. Colony bays and medical facilities are only basic.

    Design your own solar system first, then others, an overview of the planets around you. For example, the human home system is just our own solar system (Mercury, Venus, Earth, etc.) However, the neighboring system is much more cramped, with most planets experiencing tropical or desert climates.

    Choose a planet to which you'll travel and then design it in more detail. What races exist there? What governments? What plant-life? For instance, the Emperor has decided to send our vessel to the planet X-6 (AKA Tropitania). He has decided to colonize the planet due to the life there being non-sentient, or so he thinks. The entire planet is in fact a hive mind, with every creature acting in unison.

    Repeat with other planets, and don't forget to arm yourself with weapons!

Tips

  • Can't think of any ideas? Look into history. Why not have laser rifles that resemble muskets or future transportation that resembles the steam trains of the past?
  • Draw the planets with holes leading to tunnels that take over the whole inside of the earth, and draw houses in the tunnels and shops and whatnot to make it look like a world underground.
  • Have a diverse range of races: how about a communist drone planet? A fundamentalist race of sentient tigers? Anything is possible.
