EditSteps
-
1Get a big cage for your snail. It should be able to roam around, and it should not be cramped. Snails will often climb to the top of the cage, so the climb up should be tall enough for them to feel they are accomplishing something.
-
2Fill the bottom of the cage with dirt, maybe a centimeter deep. This is so that if your snail falls, it won't damage its shell.
-
3Next, put a thick layer of leaves over the dirt. The snails will use these as food.
-
4Add some decorations. Maybe some flat stones or a twig for climbing.
-
5Your snail needs water, not to drink, but to moisturize their skin. A shallow dish should do just fine.
-
6Even though a snail eats leaves, it is important to feed him other foods (like apples, strawberries, lettuce, etc.)
-
7Snails need calcium for shell repair, growth, and other things. Eggshell, cuttlefish, natural chalk and calcium supplements all work. Although some may find it morally wrong, the shell of a dead snail works very well, too.
-
8Snails need some sunlight, but not too much, because they can dry out. Maybe set them in the window every couple hours.
-
9In the winter, snails hibernate. Under no circumstances should you bury them, because they most likely are not dead.

EditTips
- You can handle your snail, but you need to wash your hands after.
- A clear cage is best, because they let you see your snail, and your snail not be in the dark. For tiny snails, a plastic baby food cup works well.
- If you paint your snail use non toxic paint and non toxic glue if you bedazzle it.and personalize the snail please keep it as a pet or birds and other animals will see it very easy and will eat it.
EditWarnings
- Never, EVER let a snail near salt. If you use a food container, make sure salt was not one of the main ingredients (ex, pickle jar)
- A snail should never be completely submerged, because they will drown
