Coolpad Group Limited (Chinese: 酷派集团; pinyin: kù pài jí tuán SEHK: 2369) is a Chinese telecommunications equipment company headquartered in Shenzhen. It is the 3rd largest smartphone company in China[2][3] and sixth-largest worldwide.[4] From January to June 2012, the company had a market share of shipments of 10.4%.[5]
Coolpad was originally the smartphone brand of Yulong Computer Telecommunication Scientific (Shenzhen) Co.,[4] itself a subsidiary of China Wireless Technologies Limited. China Wireless was officially renamed "Coolpad Group Limited" at the end of 2013.[6]
Controversy[edit]
On December 17, 2014 Palo Alto Networks announced they had found a backdoor installed on many of their handsets, and have dubbed it "CoolReaper".[7]
