Members of INTA’s Trademark Office Practices Committee have been collecting data on trademark office procedures in the areas of filing, examination, prosecution and opposition, as applied by over 170 offices worldwide.
More recently, we asked the trademark offices in each country to verify the data that was collected by our members, a process which is still ongoing in certain jurisdictions.
This information is now available in a comprehensive online database which serves as a tool to analyze, compare and benchmark best practices of trademark office practices on an international and regional basis.
During preliminary testing and presentations at INTA’s Annual Meetings, representatives from numerous national trademark offices were enthusiastic about the many possibilities for using the database and for sharing information that not only improves Office practices, but which could facilitate greater cooperation between Offices in order to improve services to users.
