    Start with a dollar bill in good condition. (Or use a $5, $10, $20, note instead––see Tips for other currencies.) Fold the bottom right corner diagonally.

    Unfold the corner. Then fold the top right corner diagonally.

    Unfold the corner. You should see that the creases form an X. Fold the right side of the bill backwards over the middle of the X.

    • Hint: at this point you should have a single pair of tabs, folded on the diagonal, pointing up. You should have three layers of folded tabs pointing down.

  • If you don't have any U.S. currency, you'd like a different color, or you want to give one to someone without giving them your money, start with a rectangular piece of paper about the same size: 6.6cm (2.61 inches) wide, by 15.6cm (6.14 inches) long. A paper cutter, if you have access to one, can help you get the edges square.
  • This is best folded on a flat surface.
  • This may also be possible with other currencies. A £5 or £10 British note will work, with the omission of step #7. Check the size of the alternative currency note's size against the measurements in the previous tip.
