    Sort out your cards. This can be done in a few ways: HP (The amount of health your Pokemon has), Type, (Maybe you like fire-type Pokemon), Or by Attacks that the Pokemon has. (Ex: M Charizard EX has an attack that does 300 damage.)

    Start building your Pokemon deck. It should have 60 cards exactly, and shouldn't be all Pokemon. You also need Energy (Pokemon need it to attack, Energy cards should make up about one-third of your deck.) And Trainer cards, such as Poke Ball (They help you in battle.) You should have duplicates of your main attacker, And put basic pokemon, too! (If you run out of Basic Pokemon, you'll lose the game.)

    Test your deck out by playing with a friend, a family member, or even by yourself against an imaginary person! If your not happy with your deck, try making another one. You can trade with freinds and make your collection bigger, or go to a place such as Wal-Mart and buy a theme deck. Then, you can modify it to make it yours!

    Start playing in tournaments (Possibly located at your nearest comic store.), Or in places such as your school, or a library!

  • Don't get discouraged if you lose once, twice, or even Ten times!! Try playing against other people.
  • Make sure to keep all your cards in "Mint Condition", especially if you think you might want to sell some of your cards in the future.
  • Pokemon is a Trading Card Game, so... Trade!
  • Be sure that you don't receive any fake (printed) cards from your friends.
  • Try different strategies and allow yourself to use a variety of types to increase your chance of winning, or else you may run into a Pokemon you can't beat because of it's type.
  • Pokemon with healing moves are helpful.

  • Be careful about the way you spend your money. Don't waste all of it on Pokemon, Especially if you know that one day, you might find Pokemon cards boring and regret it.

  • Don't scam people by making unfair trades. You can hurt other's feelings.
