How to Not Be Bored With Exercise
Heading out on a run seems good in theory, but after several minutes of monotonous jogging steps, it wouldn't be unusual to start feeling bored. Rather than quitting exercise for lack of mental stimulation, try mixing up your routine so that you get excited about it.
EditSteps
-
1Put on some comfy clothing. Sweatpants or athletic shorts and a t-shirt are the standard, but anything you feel comfortable in works.Ad
-
2Invite some friends if you choose. This step is completely optional—not everyone likes to have friends watch them work out. However, other people can motivate you to push yourself further, and can come in handy if you like partner stretches/exercises.
-
3Play some music. Music can strongly influence the intensity of your workout—play classical if you want to take it chill. Rap, rock, and heavy metal, on the other hand, can help bring the tempo of your workout.
-
4Stretch before working out. This is very very important—if you don't stretch you risk injuring yourself. Do some windmills, touch your toes, reach to the sky and other stretches.
-
5Make a game of your warm ups. Dance to your music, do jumping jacks, run in place, grapevine, etc.
-
6Get started. Have fun!Ad

EditTips
- Try keeping to the beat of the music if you've been at it for a while and starting to get bored.
- Don't stop moving. If you start out with a cramp you'll have it for a while but you have to work it out! Don't stop moving!
- Keep a healthy snack and a glass of water at your side at all times.
EditWarnings
- Don't use weights or other dangerous objects such as treadmills if you're under 8
EditThings You'll Need
- If you're really into it bring a pair of weights and use any equipment that your parents say you can. Or if you are above 12 make the call yourself.
