Strawberry Margarita Popsicles

I’m always on the lookout for any excuse to have a cocktail! Since it’s been so hot here in Southern California, and Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner, strawberry margarita popsicles sort of just make sense… at least that’s the excuse I’m giving myself. These are super easy to put together, just mix… Read more »

Coping With the Loss of a Loved One

Today is my big brother Ryan’s birthday. He would have been 34. As I write this, it strikes me that he’s been gone for 17 years… which means that he’s been gone for as long as he was here with us. It’s that kind of thought that has the ability to knock me right off… Read more »

Oven-Baked Cheesy Bean Dip Recipe

Who doesn’t love a hot and cheesy dip? I dare say it’s one of my favorite comfort foods! My family has been making this bean dip recipe since I was a teenager. Make Grocery Shopping Easier

This one is such an incredibly simple / obvious idea I can’t believe I didn’t think of it before! Use dry erase markers to write your grocery list directly on your fridge! In my case we have a fridge in our garage to hold sodas, wine, beer, and give us extra freezer space so it’s… Read more »

Make Your Own Sponge Water Bombs

My boys are obsessed with water balloons. It’s their favorite summer activity hands-down… what is it with little boys loving the idea of launching some sort of bomb at their brother? Unfortunately they aren’t quite old enough to tie the balloons off which means that Dave and I will spend approximately 15 hours filling a bucket with water… Read more »

How To Make a Pocket Fold Napkin

The pocket fold napkin is my go-to for dinner party place settings, and something I used for years and years when I was a wedding planner. I just love that you can tuck something in: a menu, a place card, a flower, or even a party favor… the options are endless! For those of you… Read more »

About The Chic

Back in 2004 when I was looking to name my events company, I stumbled across the word 'Chic' in an old dictionary. The definition was: “a fashionable lifestyle, ideology, or pursuit”. I fell in love with the word and the idea that chic is the pursuit of something better, prettier, or cooler than you are today. Chic isn’t a state of being or even a destination, chic is the journey you take on the way to something greater. ~Rachel

Question: From RJ in Los Angeles Hi Rachel! We had a gathering last night where quite a few kids (mostly toddlers) showed up with their parents. My husband and I are childless, but love kids and aren’t afraid of messes/things breaking, etc. But, one of the mothers made a comment about “another friend of hers… Read more »
