Two Methods:Primitive MethodWatch Method

here are two ways of using the Moon in a manner similar to the Sun, to find Direction

Method 1 of 2: Primitive Method

  1. 1
    Face the Moon
  2. 2
    With the arm nearest the Equator, hold your little finger outstretched, before your eye, so that the nail is lined up with the corners of the crescent, along the Moon's axis of rotation.
  3. 3
    Look towards where your elbow is...
    • a vertical line through your inner elbow & the horizon will be..
    • directly towards the equator: South if you are North, & vice versa.

Method 2 of 2: Watch Method

  1. 1
    Multiply the Moon's Age in days since Perihelion, by 48/59
  2. 2
    Add this to Noon
  3. 3
    The result will be close to the time that the Moon will be on the meridian { Moon's Noon }
  4. 4
    Use it in the same manner as finding North or South using the Sun & a watch face to find direction
