Have you ever been working on a project in a tight space, or where the screws were really small? Did you lose screws off the screwdriver and have to hunt for them, or lose screw after screw? Here is the solution to your problem: magnetizing the screwdriver to hold the screw on while screwing it into place.

Steps

  1. 1
Gather all the screwdrivers you want to magnetize. If you're doing one and want a bunch magnetized, you might as well do them all at once.

  2. MagnetizeScrewdriver Step 2.jpg
    2
Using a fairly strong magnet (1/4 pound to 1 pound strength should work), slide it lengthwise down the screwdriver repeatedly. Only drag it from the middle to the tip of the screwdriver, not back and forth from tip to middle and back up, just from middle to tip.
  3. MagnetizeScrewdriver Step 3.jpg
    3
Do the motion several times repeatedly, count to 20 for less magnetization, and higher numbers for higher magnetization (depending on the strength of the magnet). The more strokes, the higher magnetization.

Tips
Provide Details.
Please be as detailed as possible in your explanation. Don't worry about formatting! We'll take care of it. For example:
Don't say: Eat more fats.
Do say: Add fats with some nutritional value to the foods you already eat. Try olive oil, butter, avocado, and mayonnaise.

Tips

  • Note that the magnetization will not exceed over approximately 1 pound. Also it will not exceed the overall strength of the magnet.
  • If the screw driver is frequently dropped or merely just over time you will have to re-magnetize it.

Warnings

  • Do not use strongly magnetized screw drivers around computer components. It can damage the hard drive and other internal components.
  • Do not use a super powerful magnet, pinching and high pickup can turn into a serious problem

Things You'll Need

  • screwdriver
  • fairly strong magnet (quarter pound to pound pull magnet) smaller for less magnetism
