    If you are good, there should be something like "you are protected" on top of the window, if not, you should probably scan your computer by clicking on the "scan now" button towards the bottom left. Just wait until it finishes scanning, and remove the threads if necessary.

    Other then these 2 steps, you don't need to know much more if you're an average user. You have probably noticed that there are a lot of other things there, like firewall etc. if you don't know much about that, you should leave it alone. if everything is good, it is marked with a green "v", if not, AVG will probably propose a solution itself. AVG is user friendly and easy to use.
