Data by Subject  

The Data by Subject guide lists data resources appropriate to specific academic disciplines.  It will continue to expand over time as new subjects are added.

Currently, pages are available for:

It is difficult to outline a general strategy for finding data because so much depends on the topic of interest.  But here are a few starting points:

• Governmental and International organization sources are critical collectors of data.  See:
  • Census (US)
  • OECD.Stat
  • UNdata
  • World Bank
• ICPSR is the largest archive of social science data in the world.  A first stop for most users of detailed data.
• ProQuest Statistical Insight does index a vast range of government and private sources, but its search algorithm is not very good
• The Roper Center specializes in polling data, but does cover some other topics as well
