This is the easiest way to build a scoreboard.

  • Four exterior grade 2"x2"x4' Wood Balusters (available at any lumber yard)
  • Two metal coat hangers
  • At least 30 Craft beads (preferably plastic but wood will work) from the Craft section at any major store.

    Most balusters come pre-cut with a 45 degree angle. From the bottom measure up 12 inches (30.5 cm) and draw a line. This 12 inches (30.5 cm) will be buried so that your scoreboard will be 3 feet (0.9 m) off the ground. From the top down, measure 6 inches (15.2 cm) and pre-drill a 1/4" hole in all 4 "posts".

    Drive posts into the ground to your line so that you have two feet in between them. When you drive your posts, make sure that your pre-drilled holes line up.

    Straighten your hanger out. Measure and cut hanger 30".
  4. 4
    Bend hanger at 1" and feed through one post.
  5. 5
    String beads (15, one for each "scoreboard") and feed hanger through other post and bend to hold.

    Go play Horseshoe!
