The Crossover move shouldn't be confused with just switching hands. A crossover is done by feinting a dash to one side, then going the other way instead. Switching hands (be it through the front, between the legs or behind the back) is just a necessity.
The Spin move is simply a combination of switching hands and simple pivoting. Depending on your final momentum, you would either switch hands through the front (low post) or behind the back (drive/dash). The Spin move is best used when your D-man likes to cling on to you a lot and doesn't give you enough space to dribble in the front.

our coach has taught us 2 never use the spin move because you turn your back to the hoop, which means you could miss a wide open man

only the crossover and the behind the back (no bounce) can be used without much strain while running forward without stopping
the between the legs move changes your direction by almost 90 degrees, but the ball would usually end up behind you if it came from the front, and the ball is exposed if it came from behind you
the spin move is too excessive to be practical; it's a trick after all
rather than these "basic tricks", it needs more of the real moves;
