1Firstly you need to check out the City and Guilds website (link provided below) and read up on the qualification that they have to offer. Whilst doing your apprenticeship you can study and gain practical hands on experience and become qualified to a City & Guilds level. The qualification is in three parts L1,L2 and of course L3, The qualification is aimed at individuals aged 16 and above who currently work or are considering work in the construction industry within the painting and decorating arena.

2Now you've read up and confirmed the painting and decorating apprenticeship is definitely the route you want to take. You now need to consider creating a profile, similar to a c.v however you wont have any work experience so you need to create a profile and sell yourself to potential companies who would be encouraged to take you on and put you through the apprenticeships scheme.

3Now you need to go and search for an employer or training provider. Below is a list of a few sites to get you started. They all offer access directly to employers or training providers.

4Start applying, send your profile across to as many employers or training providers as you can and then sit back and relax and they will be in contact with you. Just remember to provide the correct contact information.
