Gorgeous, Glorious Wallpaper in Kids Rooms
Wallpaper has the ability to create a story and set the mood in a room and I especially do a mental cheer when I see it used fearlessly in children's rooms. Here are a dozen children's rooms and nurseries where wallpaper is the superstar (along with the names and sources for the wallpaper).
Dean's Mix of Old & New
My Room
Name: Dean (2)
Location: New Jersey
Dean's room is a mix of old and new, DIYs, and a few splurges. I didn't want his room to be defined by any style so that it could easily grow with him. Since it is eclectic, toys and decor can easily transition in and out over time. I pulled most of the colors from the US map poster, but didn't adhere to it too strictly. What we ended up with is a somewhat traditional room with lots of hidden stories and history.
Shared Kids Rooms: Making a Multiple Bed Layout Work
So, you've decided your kids are going to share a room which means you have two beds (or a bed + crib) to fit into the room. The size and shape of the room may guide or dictate where you place the beds, but it's worth taking a look at some different bed layouts to see if they spark inspiration for you.
Oliver & Leo's Little Lumbermen Room
My Room
Name: Oliver (3) & Leo (2)
Location: Highland, Utah
I'm so in love with this whole lumberjack chic and plaid craze that is happening, so I decided to create a lumberjack room for my two active boys. I also wanted things to feel very light and airy and used a lot of white + black to keep it bright and modern. I've always loved bunk beds, so I designed these bunk beds with a special reading nook, perfect for snuggling as a family and reading books right before bedtime.
Vivienne & Gemma's Big, Bright Shared Bedroom
My Room
Name: Vivienne (3) & Gemma (1)
Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia
When my husband and I bought our first home this summer, I knew my girls were ready to share a room together. I wanted their nursery to be cheery and bright that would reflect their lively personalities. I also wanted their room to be a place would they could freely play and grow into.
The "Blank to Brilliant Navy Blue" Baby Room Makeover
Makeover
Project by: Taylor
Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Just days before my scheduled c-section, we were finally finishing our daughter's nursery. We wanted a room with lots of contrast, personality and DIY touches. We also knew we were working with a small space and so we wanted our choices to be high-impact and make a smart use of our limited floor space.
Before & After: Blank Slate to Modern, Gender-Neutral Nursery
Project by: Allison Harlow of Curio Design Studio
Project type: e-design
Location: Miami, Florida
This space provided lots of challenges! It was long and narrow, did not have a natural focal point and the budget needed to remain around $1000. To make things more complicated the client wanted to keep the gender of their baby a surprise and create a nursery that was modern, gender neutral, mature and utilized mostly neutral colors.
