Telecom Australia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Telecom Australia was the trading name of the:
- Australian Telecommunications Commission (1975 - 1989)
- Australian Telecommunications Corporation (1989 - 1992)
- Australian and Overseas Telecommunications Corporation (1992 - 1993)
The AOTC's official name was changed to Telstra in April 1993. It adopted the Telstra identity as its trading name overseas, but preserved the Telecom Australia name domestically (with a redesigned logo) until 1 July 1995, where it adopted the Telstra branding domestically as well.
Phone card art[edit]
Telecom's phone cards featured artwork of landmarks in Australia, Aboriginal art and events in Australia. All cards had these paintings except the $2.00 cards which had photographs.
Sports[edit]
Telecom Australia was the main sponsor of Rally Australia from 1992 to 1994 before becoming Telstra in 1995.
