Library on Wheels (LOW)
Library On Wheels (LOW) brings books and other reading materials, audiocassettes and information to Detroit's seniors and schools. The LOW Bookmobile makes many stops a month at two-week intervals to senior citizen buildings, drop-in centers and other places where older or retired people live or congregate.
Bookmobile staff will answer questions, locate or reserve books and obtain titles through Interlibrary Loan. Librarians bring books to the rooms or apartments of those unable to visit the Bookmobile.
Materials that can be obtained through the Bookmobile, or visits by LOW staff include a large selection of a good variety of current fiction and non-fiction for those who wish to keep well-informed, an extensive collection Large Print books for those with vision problems, magazines, a small collection of audiocassettes of books and music, books in foreign languages (by request), and information from the library's TIP Service.
