UMD Open Access Publishing FundThe UMD Libraries is pleased to announce a new campus-based Open Access Publishing Fund to support UMD faculty and students who wish to make their research findings immediately and freely available to the public. The fund will help pay for article processing charges for articles authored by UMD faculty and students, and accepted for publication in eligible open-access, peer-reviewed journals to cover fees when funds from any other source are unavailable. Eligibility requirements and guidelines, along with an online application form, are available here. NIH Public Access PolicyIn early January 2008, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced a revision to its Public Access Policy that ensures that published results of NIH-funded research are publicly available. Effective April 7, 2008, all peer-reviewed articles arising from NIH funds are required to be submitted to PubMed Central within 12 months of publication.
