About Branch
The Monteith Library opened May 1, 1926. It was at the time the largest of Detroit’s branch libraries, the seventeenth to be housed in its own building. Since its opening the Monteith Library has been a beacon in the eastside community it serves. Today, many community organizations use the facility to hold monthly meetings and other events.
Monteith has an extensive Urban Fiction Collection along with a diverse Urban Christian collection, as well as unique children’s offerings and an outstanding offering of current DVDs.
Book Drop-off
Located at the front door of the building books are retrieved daily. The outdoor drop-box is open 24 hours for public convenience in returning materials.
