About Branch
Serving the community for over 90 years, the Duffield Branch of the Detroit Public Library system, a Carnegie library with historical architectural fixtures, offers access to today's media.
Duffield's programming provides learning experiences for people of all ages to explore and become active in their community. Alive with the sounds of children, our programming engages learning in entertaining ways, including storytelling, puppet shows and craft-making for all occasions.
Our premier annual event is the Albert Mallory Black Hero's Essay and Oratorical Contest for students of local schools. This event takes place every February in celebration of Black History Month.
Adults are welcome to join our monthly book discussions, weekly computer classes and other unique programs.
During the early months of each year, Duffield, in partnership with the Accounting Aid Society, provides tax assistance and preparation to our customers. We invite you to stop by Duffield and find out what else we have to offer.
