Three Methods:The Rig's BodyThe Camera MountAttaching the Camera

This WikiHow will guide you through several easy steps on how to make a camera rig out of easy-to-find materials. Camera rigs are used as a handhold camcorder stabilizer to keep your camera steady without having to worry about all of the bumps on the terrain you are filming on.

Method 1 of 3: The Rig's Body

  1. 1
Take a 6" segment and attach two 45 degree angle connectors to it, one on each end.

  2. 2
Take another 6" segment and attach it to one of the 45 degree angle connectors. Do the same thing with the other connector. You should end up with a sort of curve-like shape.
  3. 3
Attach a 45 degree angle connector at the ends of the segments you added in step two. Connect a 6" segment to each of those.
  4. 4
Repeat step 3, except this time attach the two 2.5" segments.
  5. 5
Connect a "T" connector to each of the 2.5" segments, and another 2.5" segment on the side of the "T" that, when the 2.5" segment is added, it looks like a 6" segment with a connector in the center.
  6. 6
Place a 45 degree angle on the 2.5" segments and connect them with a 6" segment. You should now have an octagon.
  7. 7
Attach 1.5" segments to the parts of the "T's" that point in towards the center of the rig, and place a 45 degree angle connector on the other side of each 1.5" segment.
  8. 8
Place 3" segments in the 45 degree angle connectors and connect them with the "cross" shaped connector.
  9. 9
Put a 1.5" segment in the bottom of the "cross" and cap it off with an Endcap.

Method 2 of 3: The Camera Mount

  1. 1
Screw a nut onto the bolt about halfway down.
  2. 2
Thread the bolt through the cap.
  3. 3
Connect the cap to a 1.5" segment.
  4. 4
Screw another nut on the other side of the bolt, and tighten it with pliers.
  5. 5
    Screw on the 1/4" wingnut.
  6. 6
    Place washer above wingnut.

Method 3 of 3: Attaching the Camera

  1. 1
Screw the bolt into the hole on the bottom of the camera and tighten the wingnut.
  2. 2
Place the camera mount into the "cross" connector.
  3. 3
Cement everything to keep it from falling apart, but don't cement the bolt into the camera. When cementing, make sure the camera is facing the way you want it to.

Tips
Provide Details.
Please be as detailed as possible in your explanation. Don't worry about formatting! We'll take care of it. For example:
Don't say: Eat more fats.
Do say: Add fats with some nutritional value to the foods you already eat. Try olive oil, butter, avocado, and mayonnaise.

Tips

  • If your camera comes with a remote, attach it to the rig where your thumb would be so you don't have to reach into the center of the rig.
  • If your camera doesn't come with a remote, then it doesn't really matter. The only times you need to reach in and out of the center of the rig is when you start and stop recording. You can always just walk forward to zoom in.

Things You'll Need

  • Get a 3/4" wide PVC Pipe and have it cut into:
    • 6 6" segments,
    • 2 3" segments,
    • 4 2.5" segments, and
    • 4 1.5" segments.
  • You will also need these pieces:
    • 10 45 degree angle connectors,
    • 2 "T" shaped connectors,
    • A "Cross" shaped connector, and
    • 2 Endcaps with a 1/4" hole drilled in the center.
  • Finally, we come to the miscellaneous items:
    • a 1/4" x 4.5" Long, Size 20 Carriage Bolt,
    • a 1/4" Wingnut,
    • 2 1/4" Nuts,
    • a 1/4" Fender Washer, and
    • some PVC cement.
