Windows 7 64 bit is capable of running both 32 and 64 bit programs, and should run Photoshop 7.
Will Photoshop 7.0 work under Windows 7? This explains how to do it.

thank you for the help I have a chance to buy a dell 755 or hp 4400 with 4gb /80gb is that enough to use ps 7 and indesign and all the add ons for those programs-which would you buy

The HP has 4GB and that is better than 2GB the Dell has.

Ok, take the one with the larger hard drive capacity. Video ram should be at least 512 MB. 2.2 GHz CPU speed is good.

In that case look at reviews. Someone will tell you if the unit had problems and how each company handled it. Dell in my case sent a technician out, so I didn't need to mail my laptop in.

these are both refurbished so not under the company warranty but both have a year
