I HATED IT; NOW IT IS THE BEST I'VE PLAYED!!
Let me start by saying I am an avid spades player so I'm picky. Nothing wrong with that. I revised my first one-star review which was all about it crashing over 12 times in the first day, ditto the second. I said I was going to delete it but tried a couple more games.
Then it said, "Do you want to play ad free?" Well, yeah, I did! It turned out that for 99 cents I lost the ads AND the crashing. Now I am enjoying the best and most challenging spades game I've ever played on computer or iPhone. My partners change and they each have their quirks you have to learn -- one overbids all the time -- but the partner acts like a RL partner and covers your bet when you over bid most of the time, rarely steps on your lead, helps you set the other team, and even helps you bag them out! Truly Amazing for a program. Never been so pleased with a game. It really is worth the 99 cent upgrade. Glad I didn't just delete.
Great graphics
So I've been playing this game for about 2 years. I had to get beyond the annoying advertisements & pay for the upgrade. However, I was appalled that the advertisements included inappropriate advertisements for kids; there is no age limit on this app & they needed to be sensitive to their audience. Certain partners you pick will definitely cheat or trump you, which is annoying. Sometimes the game cheats, counts a book & tabulates the wrong score. There are definitely some fixable issues. But beyond those complaints, the game is very fun & the settings give you enough playing options. The graphics are pretty nice compared to other games of the like. They now show the tally of books & bids underneath the player, which is good. It will give you hours of addicting fun. My kids are now addicted to the game too!
Pretty Good
For the rules I am used to using, app is pretty good. The biggest thing it has that I haven't found in any other spades app is the ability to set a minimum bid (so-called "suicide" bidding rule). The companion rule, sandbags, is also present. I like to have minimum bids w/sandbags because it forces players to try and bid their hands as accurately as possible. Most other apps just have goofy bidding because they don't have these options.
But it would be nice if there was just a simple minimum bid option with no requirement for your partner to go nil. Also, you always bid first, which isn't fair.
There are other issues, but the min bids and sandbags makes this app quite a bit better than the others.
