Photoshop will not save edits

No, sorry, I did not give enough information. I save either as tiffs or jpegs or psd mostly 8 bit but sometimes 16 bit RGB . They usually simply save without any difficulty after I have edited them ,firstly in ACR and then in Photoshop proper. I have just found that a picture saved as a PSD but would not as a jpeg.

At first I thought that Benjamin's solution had however fixed the problem but now it does not seem to have done which is a shame..

Thanks, I have run that and am about to try the reinstall. I'll let you know how I get on.

It has dawned upon me that the problem might be that I had two subscriptions - Creative Cloud for Photoshop and I then took out the Photography Plan subscription when it became available to include Lightroom.

The first subscription expired and I kept getting messages about it. I did speak to Adobe and formally cancelled it. They assured me that all would continue as before but I think that maybe Photoshop became unresponsive because the original subscription had expired. Just a thought - here goes with the reinstall bit now.

It still would not work and I was tearing out what little hair I had left. I phoned Adobe this afternoon and a very helpful chap took over my computer and did various things to Photoshop including using the CC tool again, uninstalling and reinstalling and removing some Photoshop files in Program files on the computer. I am very pleased to report that it now works perfectly.

The only caveat is that all my plug-ins have disappeared. But having said that, I wonder if they caused the problems and Photoshop works much more quickly without them. I may not take the risk of reinstalling them as Photoshop does pretty well all you need anyway.
