Would be five stars if its keyboard worked with VMware console

I have successfully accessed Win7 and Win8.1 systems over both LAN and VPN connections with this client. However, if you need to interact with VMware Console on the remote system, you'll want to use a different clien app, as the keyboard on this one has been broken for nearly a year. For the past few releases of this app, up to and including v8.1.6, this client sends sends unusual keystrokes that are not properly translated by specific applications such as VMware and DameWare. Any keypresses sent from the standard iOS keyboard (or a Bluetooth keyboard) are transmitted as ASCII codes instead of BIOS key scan codes. The remote system somehow intercepts and translates these keypresses for standard Windows applications such as Word and Notepad, but not for VMware Console or DameWare. Of all the RD clients Microsoft offers, the iOS version is the only one suffering from this problem. Despite reporting this issue to the designated support forum months ag , nobody from Microsoft or their contractors who mind the forums will acknowledge the defect. If I could somehow obtain an older version of this app, say 8.0.7, I'd use it, but without that, I have no choice but to use a different client app.

Reliable and intuitive

I can depend on it to remote into my work desktop computer from anywhere (bed, car... you get the point). The mouse pointer + touch based interface options are great. I end up using the mouse pointer all the time on my tiny iPhone screen and can flawlessly do almost everything I need to including running reports and sending email using Outlook.
Typing is made possible because the remote screen can be panned once the RDP on screen keyboard shows up.
THANK YOU MICROSOFT for making this!!

Excellent app with a major flaw

The app works great on my iphone 6 plus. Contrary to what some reviewers have said, you can actually choose to use the screen as a touch pad or a touch screen. All you need to do is to tap on the title bar and select the option on the right.
The only problem that I have is that I have VMWare workstation running in the RDP session. But the VM session would not correctly accept keyboard inputs. This used to work in older versions so I think it's something that they can fix easily. But for now, I'll only give 3 stars until they fix that since VM access within the RDP session is vital for me.
