1Plan your project look out. Make some drawings on separate pieces of paper and draw out where everything should be. Brainstorm some different approaches, and decide on where should everything be placed for each possibility.

4Pick a layout. Decide how big your board should be and pick a nice colour that suites your project. Look at your writing/results you have to display and see how much space everything will take up. Be wise and pick the perfect size. Not too small, and not a gigantic one!

5Decorate. Make the background look nice and colourful, or make borders. This will make it look nice and attractive. Great projects can get overlooked if they're not well presented. Here's your chance to make your project stand out.

6Draw diagrams/illustrations yourself, if possible. Printed pictures look nice, but drawing your own pictures is always impressive and can help to demonstrate your own style. This shows the teacher or instructor that you're creative. It can show that you really took the time to do everything yourself!

7Make the title stand out. Make the title nice and big, but make sure you have room for the rest of your work. Add some effect to the title like glowing, fancy, bold, cursive or a mixture - be creative! The title is very important. This will draw readers' attention to your overall project.

8Layout your papers. Print or write out the information that you have to share. Then start cutting and pasting everything where it belongs, according to your plan. Make sure all the writing is nicely spaced out. Do not glue until you've decide how it should be spaced out!

9Add something extra. Depending on the kind of project, you might want to buy or make a little model of what you're doing it on, or include a video or live demonstration in the presentation. Having props catches people's attention and makes the overall project more appealing.

10Hand it in on time. If you hand it in late, your instructor may reject it or take points off your grade. Even better, hand it in earlier or the day before! Being prompt can only help your grade.

- Make it organized and neat. Don't make it messy or cluttered. Make sure you can read every single word!
- If you have a written part of the project, too, pay attention to the cover page because it is the first thing the checker/grader sees. Be thorough with the rest of the project, too, though!
- Try thinking out of the box. Be innovative with each and every piece in the project.
- Ask 2 or more people to check over your work and see if there are any grammar or spelling mistakes before you print your final versions for the display board.
- Add some style to your project. It doesn't have to be plain and boring.
- When you are presenting your project, speak clearly and try to mention everything on your board.
- Try to memorize most key points as well.
- When you do the poster, it is better to draw the letters on the title than use stick-on letters!
