Microsoft's Windows universal app platform is a (relatively new) software platform that provides the ability to create one app that can run on mobile, desktop, console, holographic. Applications can be created with a shared codebase targeting both Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1. The structure of a Universal App consists of at least three projects for Windows, Windows Phone, and Shared.[1][2]
