Baku, 9 July, 2010 - The Government of Azerbaijan and the United Nations in Azerbaijan signed the next United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), a five-year collaboration which aligns the UN prospective development activities with the State Programme for Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development (2008-2015). Expectations are high that the role and contribution of the UN system to national development will become more coherent, effective and relevant, as well as provide better support for the government in achieving the internationally agreed development goals, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The Deputy Prime Minister, Honourable Abid Sharifov, and the UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Fikret Akcura, signed the UNDAF Alognside government officials and representatives from the UN agencies. |
