Microsoft Word on Microsofti loodud tekstitöötlusprogramm. Algne programm Multi-Tool Word toodi avalikkuse ette 1983. aastal Xenixi platvormile.[1][2][3] Teistele platvormidele loodi Microsoft Wordi versioon hiljem:
- 1983. IBM PC DOSile
- 1984. Apple Macintoshile
- 1986. Atari ST-le
- 1989. SCO UNIX, OS/2, Microsoft Windows.
2003. aastast on programmi ametlik nimi Microsoft Office Word
