  1. I won't tweet about it anymore because I think a lot of people have seen it by now... CEO of the Arts Council RT'd it, that's good.

  2. Just to say the 'Library use is actually MASSIVE' thing () has been updated to add this vid!

  3. Terrifying but nevertheless excellent swimming pool idea.

  4. Fantastic!

  5. How long does it take to read a tweet - 3 seconds, maybe? That's over 25 library visits right there, just while you read this!

  6. The real story here is despite the Tories' best efforts to reduce library use, they're still used more than pretty much ANYTHING in the UK.

  7. 31,000 visits to public libraries an hour, for every hour of the year - how does that not blow people's minds?

  8. Basically we have to ensure everyone understands that, actually, people are using the absolute fuck out of public libraries. :-)

  9. So hopefully people will do some interesting things with the stats and cause non-library folk to rethink what library use is really like.

  10. (That thing on Slideshare is part of the same process.) All of the resources in that post can be used anyway you like without attribution.

  11. Which still leaves it staggeringly, dizzyingly, mind-bogglingly high, at over *772,000 visits every single freaking day*.

  12. It makes an argument in favour of closing them, and after all the more you close the lower the use gets. But it only dropped 2% last year.

  13. I feel like the Tory nonsense-peddlers have successfully duped the UK into conflating 'reduced library use' with 'LOW library use'.

  14. YEAH LIBRARIES!

  15. If anyone can build on any of this stuff, let me know when you've made something and I'll add it to the post.

  16. I may do a vid in PowToon for YouTube next week, and hopefully there'll be an infographic coming soon made by someone good at them...

  17. And I made a presentation using Sway (blog post on Sway coming soon, it's ace):
