    • So it might go, "Last time I checked, Sherlock, I made 86% on my end-of-grade test, and what did you get? Oh, I remember now, a 37. So, maybe, it would be best if you tried again. I'll give you three chances and you have already used one!"
    • Or, "It couldn't possibly be that I am dumb, because if I were, I would be thinking you are brilliant, but, obviously, I am smarter than that!"
    • Either should get them so turned around that they won't dare mess with you again.

    Pick your tone. It could be taunting, rude, combative, apologetic, wistful, ... Use your imagination and come up with something that fits the situation.
