The op-ed pages and blogs are full of commentary on the recondite technical aspects of the nuclear negotiations. Some do a masterful job of delineating the particular issues still being negotiated. However, there is a persuasive case to be made that the outcome does not turn on how those detailed matters are resolved. It is a question of political will. The audacious Netanyahu challenge brought the issue to a head. Now, after some unusually frank comments, Obama has retreated. All the talk is aimed at playing down the fight, to placate the Israelis. By referring to Netanyahu's high stakes gamble in affronting the president as just as passing squabble, he lost a critical opportunity to put his enemies to rout.
The essential precursor to any solution -- a will to recognize the equal rights of non-Jews in any of the five states that Israel controls -- is absent. Whether that refusal is best represented by a Bibi who says no concessions or a Buji whose idea of an ideal world is that Israel keeps all of the land it has occupied, I leave that for others to judge.
Let me be free. Let me be me! Don't make me old, with your thinking and words about how I should be. You don't have to come to my shows. I am giving tremendous energy with my voice, because that is me. Get my energy or shut up.
The worlds first true superpower will be the country that creates meaningful work and shared prosperity for it's citizens and the world by implementing durable distributed grid resource systems that can be delivered anywhere in the world -- with the push of a button.
Two years ago, in March, my younger brother died, quite unexpectedly. He'd been my only sibling and, both of our parents being gone, the only other person in my original family. His daughter had asked my daughter to tell me the news.
STOCKHOLM - A breakthrough might compel a phase of intense diplomacy, giving Iran a pathway to diplomatic normalization and opening the door for grand bargains that could begin to restore order and stability to the rest of the region. A breakdown, by contrast, though unlikely to lead immediately to war, could easily foment developments that lead in that direction, and the region as a whole could be pulled even deeper into the current vortex of chaos and violence.
Should the next government end up being led by Netanyahu, every Israeli will live to mourn the demise of Israel as a democratic and Jewish state and the home of brave pioneers who made a millennium-long dream a reality.
I'm so excited that I've partnered with the great team at Oprah.com to launch a six-week course on Thrive -- a bridge from knowing what we need to do in order to thrive to actually doing it and thriving!
For the first time in 40 years, global carbon dioxide emissions from the energy sector did not increase. During 2014, the global economy grew by 3 percent but emissions remained at 2013 levels.
The Israeli electorate had a choice to make. By reelecting a leader who publicly reneged on his commitments to peace and a two-state solution, they voted against peace.
A sober review of recent, mostly failed, attempts to engage and disarm North Korea can also yield further lessons. It should not be forgotten that the Six Party Talks' remit was wider than the nuclear issue alone, though this never came to fruition.
Among Nintendo's "diverse and interesting female protagonists" are a pink version of a toadstool and a pink version of a bomb, called Toadette and Bombette.
Anyone who didn't see the homophobia at CPAC -- and the organizing around it that still animates much of the conservative movement, and is bowed to by the GOP -- must have been wearing blinders.
While we applaud Starbucks for their effort to engage a topic that many seek to avoid, and while their efforts seem well-intentioned, we, as a national racial justice organization, with a name similar to the hashtag used in the campaign feel compelled to say: as a nation, we need more.
Why did the progressive peace voice have so little impact in Israel? The answer to this is startling: it didn't have much electoral impact because it was almost totally absent from the discourse of the supposedly left former Labor Party which now calls itself "The Zionist Union."
When it comes to drug overdose, we may be winning one battle, but losing the war. As deaths involving prescription painkillers are leveling off, the latest stats on heroin fatalities could not be more dire. What's often lost behind the headlines is that the trends in prescription painkiller and heroin abuse are linked.
People whose greatest fears in life include transgender people in bathrooms will increasingly be seen for what they are, and the rest of us will be able to just get on with our lives.
Please know that both legally and ethically, there are times when I want to say something or agree with you but cannot for a multitude of reasons, usually pertaining to the privacy of another student. I will miss your child for the rest of my life, even if your child was incredibly difficult and made my days long and exhausting.
To the students beginning your college experience: as I prepared for my 10-year college reunion, I made a list of things that, in retrospect, I think are important as you navigate the next four years. I hope that some of them are helpful.
In his latest op-ed, McConnell repeated the same baseless claims he has been making for some time. He maintained that the EPA's carbon emissions rule is technologically unattainable. He said it would dramatically increase electricity rates across the country. And he contended it would ruin his state's economy, throwing "countless" people out of work.
Goldsmith's writing and performance of "The Body of Michael Brown" is problematic, not because he does not have the "right" to use the text, but because his use of it is fundamentally false.
While I'm mustering the bravery to proudly and persistently proclaim that black lives matter, a band of white guys from Portland are running around calling themselves "Black Pussy" with no consideration for how that registers in the mind of a black girl who has actually been reduced to that by a stranger.
Imagine this: you're in the throes of labor pain and contractions, and you arrive at your nearest hospital to give birth. When you arrive, the hospital is dirty and the bed sheets haven't been washed.

So a Rabbi and an Atheist walk into a bar. What is funny about this joke entree is that the encounter made real news, in the form of a nice talk about good and evil, with the implication that an atheist cannot tell the difference.
According to psychological scientist Edward Lemay of the University of Maryland, our desire to bond with another person in a close, committed relationship is so strong that it can bias our thinking, distorting attention and memory and interpretation so that we see and believe what we want to be true.
