I just wanted to drop by and say thanks for helping out! I know patrolling can be a bit tricky at first, so don't worry - it's normal to get feedback and ask questions as you go! It's best to skip over any changes you're not sure about at first, but you'll get the hang of all the ins and outs in no time. Have you checked out How to Patrol Recent Changes yet? It has some really good advice - I found it handy when I started! Here are the basics out of that article for you:

• Article edits: If they're accurate and helpful additions that don't just repeat existing advice in the article, keep them. If they're vandalism or involve unnecessary inclusions of brand names or external links, roll them back. If they are helpful but are not in wikiHow style, format, or the edit contains mistakes, do a Quick Edit to fix the edit.
• User pages: A person's own user page is generally fair game for any edits. Only roll-back or question the contents of the page or edit if it's clearly vandalism or contains abusive content.
• Talk pages: Generally, messages between talk pages that aren't vandalism or abuse are fine, too. You can mark them as patrolled, most of the time.
• Discussion pages: Read through the comments before marking as patrolled. Generally, most comments here are fine to patrol, but if you see obvious or repeat spamming, abusive or offensive content, you can roll it back.

Since you're still getting the hang of it, access to RC Patrol has been temporarily blocked by Patrol Coach. If you would like to talk about getting back into patrolling, please let me know! I'd be happy to offer some coaching so we can work towards restoring access.

Yup! :) Unless you plan to make it kind of game-based, (as in where one person asks the next if they like a song/band/singer, the next says yes or no, then posts another song/band/singer) then it goes in General Chat! :)

And if you ever make that mistake and put something in the wrong category, you can switch the category yourself. ;) Just click 'edit' and click the drag down to change it to your category of choice. It's great that you're making friends on wikiHow, but if you're talking a lot about non-wikiHow stuff, could you please move the conversation over to somewhere else? Try reading How to Find Alternatives to Chatting on wikiHow for ideas.

The reason why I'm asking this is because every time you post on someone's talk page, that edit needs to get reviewed by the volunteer editors on the site, which creates a lot of extra work for us. It can be tiresome to review many messages going back and forth between two people, particularly if those messages don't have anything to do with wikiHow.

I don't really know what you mean -- I was never mad at you. Just curious what you were emailing users about. You've constantly been asking users for their email address and it's usually not something we do unless we have to or have a stronger relationship with a user. Forums or talkpage messages should be good enough for now, so we'd appreciate it if you could cut down on the emailing for a little bit. :)

It's okay depending on what you're writing to the user. :) What exactly were you planning to send her? Because of all the emails, when we see someone constantly emailing, we try to get them to maybe send less emails as not to abuse the system.

Okay, an example of an inappropriate messages is when you ask for some personal information, whether it be real names, age, location, etc. Some people even find their email to be a private thing that they should not share. There's also the case where you send constant messages to multiple people about the same sort of thing. This could be personal life advice, or anything to that effect. Does that make sense? :)

Hey! Saw your message on the Help Team page. I see from above that you've been having some issues with chatting. Making friends and getting to know people is great, but when the volume of messages starts to clog up RC patrol, that's when it becomes an issue.

There are several alternatives to chatting on wikiHow; since you've mentioned you have an Outlook account, maybe you could give emailing a try. Email a wikiHow User has some tips. If you want to stay on wikiHow while doing this, you can certainly open up your email on a new tab/window. If you're into chat rooms, you may want to check out the wikiHow IRC room.
