    Close your eyes. Imagine your design. Draw it in your head and plan it. Will it work? Is it safe? Will it look good? And also, would you buy it? If you have completed this you can design a paint job. Will it be black with red and\or blue flames. Will it be sparkly silver? Or just cream? Once you have completed your design and paint job move on to step 2.

    Draw your design. Draw out your design on a piece of paper both 2D AND 3D. This is so you can see it from all directions and the publishers who will see your idea can point out it's strengths and weaknesses. If they do point out any then this can give you the opportunity to change them and perfect them and maybe even make them better than they were.

    Design a model. Be it from clay OR card this will be a step up from drawing it on paper. This would be very helpful so you can see under and on the roof. If it is made out of something flexible, make it be able to open the doors if you pull back on them. If you do this make sure you put the steering will and gear stick in. Will your wheel be like a helicopter? Will it be a stick? Or will it be like a carnwith a proer wheel?

    Look at your model. Compare it to images of flying cars on the web. Are they similar? Has your flying got jet engines? Or has it got a helicopter rotor? If you want to change your design then do so. Do not submit your design if you are unhappy with it. If you ARE happy with your product then move on to step 5.
