There may be more options to use in the PDF writer when you install an Adobe Acrobat program that is much newer than Adobe Acrobat 8.   • The PDF Writer is only available for a Windows based system. The PDF Writer isn't installed on a Mac. Adobe has found a way not to include this printer on it's system. [1]
