How to Load Windows XP on VirtualBox (Mac)
Two Methods:Download Virtual BoxSetting up your Virtual Machine
This is how to install Windows onto a Virtualbox machine on a Mac OS.
EditSteps
EditMethod 1 of 2: Download Virtual Box
-
1Go to the Virtualbox site and select the download for OS X hosts.Ad
-
2Follow the onscreen instructions to download and start installation. Once it has been placed into your applications folder (or other location you have specified) open the package by double clicking. Again follow the onscreen instructions to install.
EditMethod 2 of 2: Setting up your Virtual Machine
-
1Open up Virtual Box from Applications.
-
2Select New and enter the details of your machine. This example will install Windows 7.
-
3Press next and you can specify the amount of RAM you wish to allocate. Check your minimum requirements of your OS. In this case 1GB should be enough, however it will slow down the performance on both your OS X and Windows 7, unless you have a good mac specification.
-
4From here you can choose not to have a virtual hard drive or to create one. In this case I'm going to create a 'Virtual Hard Disk' Dynamically Allocated with 25GB.
-
5Now you should have a completed workstation. Press start on the workstation to begin.
-
6Choose the location of the operating system on your Mac or disc which you are going to load it from. Now your workstation will install Windows and go through the OS setup.Ad

EditTips
- Do this on a workstation with a fairly powerful specification to get good results. 4GB is probably not going to be enough, especially with the current MacBooks.
EditWarnings
- Unless you have the slightest technical background, beware of the setting you apply for the machine. As you will be setting space allocations on your hard drive and sharing RAM etc.
