Project banner

The {{WikiProject Computing}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project.

Usage

While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner. The full syntax is as follows:

Parameters

General parameters

• class – a rating of the article's quality; see the assessment department for more details.
  • FA – The article has reached Featured article status.
  • A – Could be submitted as a Featured article candidate; probably could use some small updates to make it Featured quality.
  • GA – The article has reached Good article status.
  • B – Could be submitted as a Good article nominee; probably could use some updates or may lack some features from the Good article criteria, but it presents a good overview of the subject.
  • C – The article has an large amount of content, but lacks information and organization in areas.
  • Start – The article is more than a stub, but may lack some important aspects of the topic's discussion.
  • Stub – The article is a stub; it likely contains one of the articles in Category:Computing stubs.
  • FL – The article has reached Featured list status.
  • List – The page is a list.
  • Needed – The article does not yet exist but has been identified as a subject that should be covered.
  • NA – Any non-article page that fits no other classification.
  • FM – The article has reached Featured media status.
  • File – The page is a file (image).
  • Book – The page is a book created via Wikipedia:Books.
  • Category or Cat – The page is a category.
  • Disambig or Dab – The article is a disambiguation page.
  • Portal – The page is a portal.
  • Redirect or Redir – The article is a redirect page.
  • Template – The page is a template.
  • Project – The page is a WikiProject page.
• importance – a rating of the article's importance; see the assessment department for more details.
  • Top
  • High
  • Mid
  • Low
  • NA

Template formatting/function parameters

• attention – "yes" if the article needs attention.
• auto – "yes" if the auto assess option is needed.
• listas – for example: "Last name, First name" if the article needs to be sorted by something other than PAGENAME.
• needs-image – "yes" if the article needs an image.
  • imagedetails (appears only if needs-image is set to yes) - Additional details to describe the image that is requested.
• needs-infobox – "yes" if the article needs an infobox.
• small – shows the reduced size template if small=yes.

Taskforce / Child WikiProject specific parameters

• amiga – "yes" if the article is supported by WikiProject Amiga
• amiga-importance – (Top|High|Mid|Low) a rating of the article's importance for WikiProject Amiga
• early-comp – "yes" if the article is supported by Early computers task force
• early-comp-importance – (Top|High|Mid|Low) a rating of the article's importance for Early computers task force.
• hardware – "yes" if the article is supported by Computer hardware task force
• hardware-importance – (Top|High|Mid|Low) a rating of the article's importance for Computer hardware task force
• java – "yes" if the article is supported by WikiProject Java
• java-importance – (Top|High|Mid|Low) a rating of the article's importance for WikiProject Java
• network – "yes" if the article is supported by WikiProject Computer networking
• network-importance – (Top|High|Mid|Low) a rating of the article's importance for WikiProject Computer networking
• riscos – "yes" if the article is supported by WikiProject RISC OS
• riscos-importance – (Top|High|Mid|Low) a rating of the article's importance for WikiProject RISC OS
• science – "yes" if the article is supported by WikiProject Computer Science
• science-importance – (Top|High|Mid|Low) a rating of the article's importance for WikiProject Computer Science
• security – "yes" if the article is supported by WikiProject Computer Security
• security-importance – (Top|High|Mid|Low) a rating of the article's importance for WikiProject Computer Security
• software – "yes" if the article is supported by WikiProject Software
• software-importance – (Top|High|Mid|Low) a rating of the article's importance for WikiProject Software
