How to Calculate Your HRA Exemption Amount in iMyGoals
iMyGoals, an online financial planner in India, lets users plan their finances, by setting individual goals and analyzing these goals. This How-To article is a step-by-step guide on how to calculate your house rent allowance (HRA) exemption.
Steps

1Login to your iMyGoals account or register as a new user.Ad

2Go to “Calculators” tab. This is available as the fourth button on upper menu bar. A click on this will take you to a new page with seven different types of financial calculators. Select “Taxes” tab from the left side menu (First tab).

3Click on “Taxes” tab. Selecting tax tab will provide you three options to choose from. Pick “HRA Exemption Calculator” tab.
- Select your city. Appropriately select your city of residence, from the drop down given.
- Fill in “Annual Salary”. Write your annual salary amount, which will include basic and dearness allowance (DA) component only.
- Fill “HRA Component in Compensation”. In this, you have to fill the annual allowance given by your company, under house rent component of your salary.
- Write “Rent Actually Paid”. Fill the amount of annual rent paid which are supported by receipts.

4Click on Calculate HRA Exemption.
