Guru is a website used by people all over the world to find online jobs where they can work from home or office. One of the most important things to keep in mind when you are working on your profile is to make sure it is complete. You are going to want to fill out your profile overview; this makes it easier for people to see information about you before they hire you. Filling out this information is easy and has the potential to land you more jobs.

Part 1 of 2: Accessing the Edit Profile Page

    Launch an Internet browser. You can do this by finding a browser’s icon in your Start menu or your desktop. Double-click the icon to open the browser.
    • You can also add another browser tab if you already have an Internet browser up.

    Go to Guru. Once you have the browser open, click on the address bar at the top of the screen and type in http://www.guru.com; this will bring you to the sign in page.

    Sign in. Enter your username and password on the fields provided then click “Sign in” to access your account.

    Access the Settings page. Click on your name on the top-right side of your Guru home page, and a drop-down menu will appear from below your name. Click on “Edit profile” to continue.
    • A new page will load showing the different settings options.

    Begin editing your profile overview. On the left side of the page is a list of items that you can select from, each option leads to a different setting list. You need to click the “Edit Profile” button with the pen beside it on the left side of the page. Scroll down and you will see a menu subheading that says “Overview.”

Part 2 of 2: Editing Your Profile Overview

    Select whether you’re an Individual or a Business. The first setting in “Overview” lets you pick whether you appear as an individual or business. Each option has a bubble beside it, click the bubble that applies to what you are representing.

    Add tagline. Type in what you want your tagline to be after you click the box next to the second choice.
    • A tagline is something your clients will immediately see; make it short, sweet, and professional.

    Say something about yourself. The next section is for your bio. Click inside the box and type in some information about yourself. Include things like where you are from, what kind of work you can do, and other interesting information about yourself.
    • This is perfect for showing clients information about yourself, which could actually increase your chances of landing a great job.

    Add your work terms. Below the bio box is a text box for your work terms. Simply put, you should include your work times and days, and how much you typically charge per job. Click on the box and type in your work terms.
    • This will help your potential clients get a good idea of when and how you work.

    Save everything. All you have to do is finalize your information so that everything saves, click on the green “Save” button below the last section to save all of your changes.
