NVIDIA's SHIELD Android TV (originally known as SHIELD Console[1] ) is an Android TV based set-top box aimed at entertainment and gaming. Developed by NVIDIA and scheduled to be released in May 2015,[2] this is NVIDIA's third-generation "SHIELD" gaming hardware device, which all devices in the series use Android. It will be the first device from NVIDIA to employ the Android TV platform and ecosystem, and the first Android TV device to output 4K resolution to a television and support high definition audio at 192 kHz.[2] It supports NVIDIA's GRID game streaming service in order to play PC games through SHIELD from the cloud.
