Steps
-
1Search Google or Bing for rabbitry management software. A lot of things may pop up, don't be overwhelmed! You do not need to just be picky and choose one site. Visit each one and see how you think it might be. You can also try one of the popular programs, like: Evans, ZooEasy, and Breeder's Assistant.
-
2On those websites, look for something that says free trial. On the top three programs on your list, download those programs' free trials.
- In ZooEasy, they make you claim a license number. For the free trial, just type in 'DEMO' and it should load saying 'This product is licensed to DEMO'. Also they limit you to ten records before you buy.
- In other programs, they might just give you a certain amount of time as a free trial but then have unlimited records in those trial days.
-
3Once the trials are downloaded and set to where they work, see if you can find manuals (Evans has one). Once you have some manuals and they are printed out, use each program and goof around with it a bit until you get used to it. Some people used to think they thought a program was great, but then liked another most. Take your time, all the time you need (but don't fiddle around with it so much that you lose trial time)
-
4Once you have decided on your software, uninstall the other software that you used. Go and purchase your final software from its site.
- Yes, some are pricey, but go for it. You will like the results.

Tips
- The Evans Deluxe edition features more than the standard. It features a color genetic system, but the cost is about $90. But still, go for it. The results are endless.
- If there are no manuals, don't be afraid to call or email the companies. They are very nice (often) and will help you. You can also give suggestions to them and give them compliments (This seems to make them friendlier). People like to now that their software satisfies customers.
- Fiddle around with the programs as much as you like to make them comfortable for you. Start by typing in fake records, litters, and finances. That always seems to get people warmed up.
Warnings
- Don't 'goof' around with the program so you crash it. If the program crashes automatically, there might be a bug. But if you are storming on the keys and clicking everywhere, you are the bug. Don't be a Pinkie Pie at the computer.
