Windows Media Player是微軟公司出品的一款免費媒體播放器，通常簡稱“WMP”，又稱“WMPlayer”。它在Windows操作系统中作为一个组件内置，也可以从网络下载。它支持通過插件增強功能。在Windows Media Player 7及以後的版本支持更換界面外观。
该软件可以播放MP3、WMA、WAV等格式的文件，而RM文件由於競爭關係，微軟默認但不支持；不過在Windows Media player 8以後的版本，如果安裝了RealPlayer相关的解码器，就可以播放。視頻方面可以播放AVI、WMV、MPEG-1、MPEG-2、DVD等格式的文件。用戶可以自定媒體資料庫收藏媒體檔。支援播放列表，支援從CD抓取音軌复制到硬碟。支援燒錄CD，Windows Media Player 9以後的版本甚至支援與攜帶型音樂設備同步音樂。整合了WindowsMedia.com的在线服務。Windows Media player 10更整合了純商業的線上商店商業服務。支援圖形界面更換。支持MMS與RTSP的流媒體。內部整合了Windows Media的專輯資料庫，如果用戶播放的音訊檔與網站上面的資料校對一致的話，用戶可以看到專輯訊息。支援外部安裝插件增強功能。

Windows Media Player 11只支援Windows XP Service Pack 2或以後的版本，不再支援Windows 2000或更舊版本的視窗環境。其次，Windows Media Player 11由于需要正版验证，在刚推出時，在部份笔记本電腦上的OEM版Windows XP裡不能執行，甚至会显示「你可能是盜版軟件的受害者」。有關問題在2007年3月的更新後已改善。另外，軟件有部份界面还在有翻譯上的錯誤。
