Veterans Educational Benefits
On June 22, 1944, the Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944 became law. It was commonly known as the G.I. Bill of Rights. Since the original 1944 law, the term has come to include other veterans' benefit programs created to assist veterans of subsequent wars as well as peacetime service, including the Montgomery G.I. Bill, the Post-9/11 Veterans Education Assistance Improvements Act of 2010, and the Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program. The Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, and several other agencies participate in administering educational programs for veterans.
