How to Report Someone Under 13 to the wikiHow Administrator Notice Board
A United States law, COPPA, prohibits children under 13 to contribute to wikiHow. We need to protect children who state their age under 13 on wikiHow. A good way to do this is to report on the Administrator Notice Board or tell an admin, and place the {{Age}} template on the person that's under 13 talk page.
Steps
-
1Go to the Administrator Notice Board.Ad
-
2Scroll down until you get to the section “Users Under 13.” This is under the section “Spammers and Vandals.”
-
3Click the edit button at the top, right corner of the section.
-
4Read the info above to help you post this report.
-
5Place {{userlinks|Username here|Under 13}}.
- Use vertical bars (not capital i or a letter L) between “userlinks” and “Username here.”
- Replace “Username here” with the user's name that is under 13.
-
6Copy and paste the link where the user mentioned he/she was under 13.
-
7Sign your name using 4 tildes (~~~~).
-
8Provide an edit summary to explain what you did.
-
9Click “Preview” to make sure the links and info turn out correctly.
-
10Click “Publish.”Ad
Tips
- Do not ask users how old they are. If they said they are under 13 (from you asking them), report them to the Administrator Notice Board, but you should not ask them.
- Place your report below the arrow (it looks like this: -->).
- Don't report an anonymous user. Only logged in users that are under 13 should be blocked. Simply roll back or remove the message that states the anonymous user's age and place the {{Age}} template on their talk page.
- Use the example shown when editing the Administrator Notice Board for advice.
