How to Watch the Progress of Google Drive Syncing Large Files
When Google Drive needs to sync very large files, say 3G file, it may take a long time (an hour perhaps). Despite many requests, google have not yet developed any progress for this long process. Assuming this is a Windows PC, you can watch the temporary sync file that google drive uses to do the sync. Here is how you do it.

1Using Window Explorer, open the Folder: C:\Users\%your-user-name%\AppData\Local\Temp\

2Sort the files by descending size order.

3Assuming your file is really large, it should now appear at the top. Hit the refresh button to see how the sync progresses. The file name is some random string that starts with 'tmp' for example 'tmpfv7ljy'
Tips
- If the file has disappeared or its size remains constant, and it is already in the size of the file you know google should sync, then the sync process has finished.If the file size is not changing, and the file size is less than the file you know should be synced, then it is stuck and you should better restart it.
