Are you a common wikiHow user who receives harassment from other users? If so, you shouldn't just let the problem blow over, you must act immediately. However, this isn't as easy as it sounds, so hopefully this article will help you with that.

Steps

  1. 1
First, politely tell the user to stop. Leave a firm message on the user's talk page that you have received a harassing message from them, and you would like them to not send you any harassing messages from now on. Tell them that if they continue, you will report them. Don't criticize them, as they are users here too, but don't show them that what they did was right, either. Remain courteous.
  2. 2
If they don't stop, then immediately report them to a wikiHow admin, or a community member. You can do this by contacting an admin, and telling the admin that you are being harassed by a wikiHow user. The admin should appropriately take care of the problem. The best way to do this is by posting on the Admin Notice Board. Another way is to post a message on one of the admin's talk page.

Tips

  • It is best to use a personalized message instead of a template when warning the offender.
  • Sometimes, it is best to not even reply to these messages. If the harassing message is too violent, then don't even bother to respond. Just go right to a wikiHow Administrator, explain the problem, and don't warn the offender at all.

Warnings

  • Please avoid the temptation to lash out on the user. It won't make you any different from the harasser. Two wrongs don't make a right. Just be straight to the point. Leaving a short, assertive message should prevent the user from harassing you further.
  • If an admin is harassing you, then you may need to handle the problem a bit differently. You can request that the admin be blocked, but be sure to explain that the reason of the block was due to harassment. Be sure to ask another admin.
