How to Repair a Sceptre X400Bv Fhd Hdtv
This model of TV has an annoying, and apparently common, habit of occasionally losing/scrambling its settings in a way that will make one or more of the inputs display in a strange way- showing gibberish in the menus, a display that is too dark, or off-color, or upside-down(!)
Unfortunately for us, when we tried to return ours, the replacement was backordered by Costco for months and months before eventually being canceled entirely due to low stock. *Fortunately* for us, and the rest of the internet, a friend of ours shared the magic factory code, and now ours is good as new!

Steps
-
1Turn on the TV.
-
2Push the 'Source' button on the remote.
-
3Enter the code '7343'
-
4This part depends on your problem, so you might need to tinker around a bit. Annotations to come for some of the specific glitches, but for glitched display color/brightness and gobbledygook menus, scroll down to 'Other Settings.'
-
5Select 'Restore Default'
-
6(It should go blank and say 'No Database' at this point. Don't panic! That's good!)
-
7Push the 'Source' button again, and input which source you want (HDMI, VGA, RCA, etc.)
-
8Enjoy your freshly repaired TV!
